Director Marian Polak and DOP Jiri Petr went on a two-year journey all over the Czech Republic to explore the wildlife of central Europe.
Even in the most unlikely environments – dense forests decimated by the bark beetle, open-cast brown coal mines, disused army training ranges – the story they tell is of a truly wild and resilient countryside. We discover that just beyond our backyards daily dramas take place in the plant and animal kingdom that we’d normally expect to see in films shot in the most remote regions of our planet.
